Health Services
Through Jeffco Health Services, Wilmot Elementary provides resources to support students and their families.
Health Room
Wilmot's Health Room is staffed each day for seven hours by our health room aide, Joni Thompson. She is trained to help children who do not feel well, need first aid or require medication at school.
If she is not available, our office staff will help to take care of students' needs. Our District Registered Nurse is Morgan Stroop (Morgan.Stroop@jeffco.k12.co.us).
She is on staff to provide health and nursing support to schools and programs within her articulation area. School-based health room aides, working as paraprofessionals, are trained and delegated through the District Registered Nurses to provide direct student care in schools.

Health Services in Jeffco
Jeffco Public Schools' Department of Health Services provides health consultation and resources to support students and their families.
Each school has a district Registered Nurse (RN) who consults with students, families, school staff and administration. Ask your student’s school for their district RN contact details and notify the RN if your student has a health need that requires support during the school day.
Each school also has a school health aide who does day-to-day care of students such as medication, Band-Aids, and ice.
Keep your student’s health concerns updated at registration and as conditions change during the school year. It is important for Jeffco to have current contact information of families.
When Students and Staff Should Stay Home
Jeffco follows the recommendations from Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) on when students and staff should stay home from school, work or childcare. District RNs provide guidance to school administration following the How Sick is Too Sick document.
The best ways to stop the spread of infection is through good hand washing and staying home when sick.
Immunizations
Colorado law requires all students attending Colorado schools and licensed childcare centers to be vaccinated against certain diseases unless a medical or non-medical exemption is filed.
For information about vaccine requirements, resources and exemptions, visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s School-Required Vaccines page.
Medical Forms
Jeffco families must submit a medical provider-signed agreement if their student requires medication during the school day.
Mental Health Supports
Wilmot Elementary promotes a safe, positive learning environment by supporting mental health.
Jeffco Public Schools recognizes the growing concern with injuries resulting in concussion or concussion-like symptoms. Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), or concussion, in children is a rapidly growing public health concern.
Jeffco Public Schools partners with Hazel Health, Inc. to provide free, additional physical and mental health care services for students. This a telehealth extension of support to Jeffco students enrolled at district-managed schools.
Jeffco Public Schools' Certified Application Assistance Site (CAAS) operates through the Jeffco Public Schools Community and Family Connections (CFC) program. CFC assists any individuals inquiring about Health First Colorado (Medicaid), Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) and other health-related resources.
Hearing and vision screenings are conducted for students in their schools according to the Colorado Department of Education guidelines.
The Department of Health Services at Jeffco Public Schools recognizes that any student or family can have lice. Jeffco’s district nurses follow several protocols and are an excellent resource for school administration, teachers, parents and families.
Parents and guardians of Jeffco Public Schools students can purchase student accident, athletic and dental insurance coverage.
