Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,

Wilmot is an extraordinary place – you can just feel it when you walk in!  We strive to provide a warm and welcoming environment for students and families – helping nurture student’s growth academically and social-emotionally. Our staff consistently goes the extra mile because we care deeply about our students, community, and one another.  I am so honored that the staff, parents, students, and community supported me becoming the next leader of this amazing school!

For those of you who don’t already know me, my name is Stephany Fritz. I am a Colorado native and I attended Jeffco Public Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.  After high school I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I then moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts to attend graduate school at Harvard University. I intended to get my doctorate and work at the college level, but spending time in the Boston area schools as a research assistant convinced me that working at the elementary level was my calling.  After earning my Masters of Education degree, I returned to Colorado and taught in Boulder Valley Schools and Cherry Creek Schools before finding my way to Wilmot. I have been privileged to serve this community as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, and unofficial assistant principal for the past 19 years.

My husband and I have been members of the mountain community for 20 years. We have three children who have all attended Wilmot. They see many of the current and former teachers and staff at Wilmot as an extension of our family. My oldest daughter will be a senior at Conifer High School and my twins will be 7th graders at West Jefferson Middle School in the fall. We really love animals at our house!  We have four dogs and four cats, as well as aquatic frogs, catfish, and snails.

As I begin my 20th year at Wilmot and my 23rd year in education, I would like to share some of my beliefs as an educator and a leader.  I believe in shared leadership and meaningful collaboration with all members of the school community.  You can expect to see me reaching out to encourage parents to share their voice through our PTA and Wilmot Council, volunteer in the building, and attend special Wilmot events like Bandana Day. You can also expect to see me involving our dedicated teachers and staff in all important decisions that impact our Wilmot community.

I believe in finding the right balance of challenge and support for each of our learners and ensuring that their experience is relevant, engaging, and personalized. You can expect our staff to provide personalized feedback to your student, use formative and summative data points to gauge their progress and determine the right next steps instructionally, and design engaging lessons based on high expectations for your student’s growth and achievement. I believe in supporting the development of the whole child. You can expect the staff at Wilmot to engage with your child in a way that makes him or her feel known and connected to the school community. Research shows that when children feel connected to at least one caring adult outside of their family, it supports their growth and happiness across all domains.  You can also expect to see me and all of the staff at Wilmot modeling and expecting our students to demonstrate the Wilmot values of Generosity, Integrity, Responsibility and Respect. Learning and practicing these fundamental skills helps nurture our school culture and prepares students to be successful in life.

One of my favorite activities is greeting students as they arrive each morning.  This routine takes on new significance after the challenges we’ve faced over the past year.  I look forward to meeting new Wilmot students and families, as well as reconnecting with students and families that I’ve known for years. It will be such a pleasure to welcome students for in person learning this year!

In partnership,
