Volunteer Opportunities
Everyone is Welcome
- Inclusive Community: We believe that all parents, guardians, and grandparents—moms, dads, and everyone in between—play a vital role in our students' lives.
- Community Engagement: We foster a sense of belonging and encourage the entire Wilmot community to participate in making our school a safe and welcoming place. Your involvement makes a significant impact! Whether you can volunteer regularly or occasionally, we welcome your participation.
There are many opportunities to get involved in our school community. We need Watch Cat volunteers to keep us safe during arrival and dismissal, as well as volunteers in the classroom, for school events like field day, and field trip chaperones. Please see below for more information on each of these opportunities.
We value your child’s safety so all volunteers are required to submit a Person of Interest form AND a Volunteer Disclosure Form. On the Person of Interest form please choose School Based Volunteer (submitting a BISI) background check. The fee for the background check is $17.25 per person. This can be paid directly in the office when you submit the paperwork to Ms. Carly for processing. Please note that we must receive the cleared background check prior to you volunteering, including attending field trips.
Watch Cats
Wilmot Watch Cats are a group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to the safety and well-being of our students. In addition to helping with arrival and dismissal, Watch Cats check the building perimeter to ensure the doors are secure at the start of each day. Watch Cats also help provide supervision during school events during the school day like field day, as well as after school like Bandana Day and the Spring Dance.
After completing the necessary paperwork, please email wilmotwatchdogs@gmail.com. You will get access to the monthly sign up to choose the dates and times that fit your schedule.

Classroom & Field Trip Volunteers
Classroom teachers will communicate about volunteer opportunities in the classroom and on field trips at Back to School Night and through monthly email communications. Volunteers typically start the week after the Labor Day holiday.
School Event Volunteers
There are many events throughout the school year that require parent volunteers. Some of these events are during the school day, like field day and the Fun Run. Our field day happens in September. You can sign up in person during the Ice Cream Social or Back to School Night. Volunteer opportunities will also be shared through the Wilmot Weekly online newsletter sent each Sunday afternoon.
You can also learn about special event volunteer opportunities through our PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) and in the Wilmot Weekly. Our PTA plays a vital role in making Wilmot a warm and welcoming community through their planning and events. Parent volunteers make these events possible. Please consider joining so you can support events like the Bandana Day Carnival, the Fun Run, the Holiday Craft Fair, and the Spring Dance & Silent Auction.
Wilmot Council
Wilmot Accountability Council (WAC) is a collaborative, decision-making, accountability committee made up of parents, staff members and community members. WAC shares a common vision with Wilmot Elementary to provide a high-quality education that prepares all children for a successful future.
Follow this link to view the Wilmot Accountability Council By-Laws and Norms. All meetings are held virtually five times per year (September, October, January, February and April) on a Tuesday evening at 7:15 p.m. Please contact the principal, Stephany Fritz, if you would like more information or want to join Wilmot Council.
